Michael Wilkinson received his Master’s degree in Counseling from Adams State College in 2010. He opened Chrysalis Counseling in June of the same year. He is also certified as a Mind-Body Relationship Coach through the Hendricks Institute in Ojai, California. He currently holds the rank of Yondan (4th degree black belt) in the Japanese martial art of Shin-Budo Kai Aikido.

He taught Language Arts and Speech and Communications on the Navajo Reservation, and was a Special Education teacher in Aztec, New Mexico. He is an avid knitter, and is learning the piano and music theory, a daunting task.

Michael has conducted group presentations on conflict management, communication, and self-esteem building for seven years. Clients include the Southern Ute tribe, Braided River Mediation Center, New Mexico Men’s Wellness, and members of Sokku Gakkai International, Denver, Colorado.

He has been married to Jill for 24 years, and brings to his counseling many lessons regarding self-esteem, conflict, and and the freedom and power that come from making positive choices.

Michael lives in Durango with Jill, three dogs, and two cats.
